The companies have signed a long-term framework agreement valid until the 2030s, covering the flexible provision and delivery of large quantities of radars for ground-based air defence, particularly for drone defence solutions and the Skyranger 30 air defence system.

The contract has a potential volume in the high three-digit range and sets out binding purchase conditions for both partners. Under the agreement, various companies within the Rheinmetall Group are able to place orders for the radar systems.

With the framework agreement now in place, both companies have established the basis for predictable, efficient and reliable cooperation. It provides a high degree of planning security and ensures the availability of core components from the SPEXER 2000 product range through resilient supply chains.

The SPEXER radar family comprises high-performance surveillance radars for different ranges, enabling the automatic detection and classification of ground, sea and low-flying air targets. The SPEXER 2000 is already in use by the German Armed Forces for field camp protection, high-energy laser-based drone defence and close- and short-range air defence applications.

Together, Rheinmetall and Hensoldt are contributing to strengthening the air defence capabilities of the German Armed Forces and allied nations. The cooperation highlights their shared objective of reinforcing the European defence industry, maintaining critical technologies and supporting the long-term operational readiness of modern air defence systems.
