This latest launch brings the total number of satellites launched by ICEYE since 2018 to 44, supporting both the company’s own operations and customer missions. The new satellites, manufactured in Finland and the United States, deliver high-resolution 25 cm imagery and are designed for commercial and governmental applications. ICEYE plans to launch more than 20 additional satellites annually starting in 2025.
The launch included a second satellite for Space42, a UAE-based space technology company. This satellite is part of Space42’s Earth Observation Space Program, aimed at enhancing the UAE’s capabilities in satellite-based Earth monitoring. ICEYE noted that its compact and high-performance satellites provide reliable solutions for global customers, including governments and industries.
Hasan Al Hosani, CEO of Bayanat Smart Solutions, Space42, highlighted the significance of the satellite, named Foresight-2, in advancing the UAE’s space capabilities. He stated that the satellite contributes to strengthening emergency response preparedness and expanding satellite manufacturing within the country.
The newly deployed satellites join ICEYE’s growing SAR constellation, the largest of its kind globally. SAR technology enables imaging of Earth’s surface regardless of weather conditions or time of day, providing near real-time data for a range of applications. These include disaster response, infrastructure monitoring, and environmental management.
