Italian military vehicle manufacturer IDV has signed a contract with the Romanian Ministry of Defence to supply a third batch of tactical trucks under a framework agreement concluded on 30 December 2019. The long-term agreement covers the delivery of more than 2,900 High Mobility military trucks for the Romanian Armed Forces.

The first phase of the programme included the delivery of 942 vehicles, while a second batch of 1,107 trucks was delivered between 2023 and 2026. Under the newly signed contract, a further 860 vehicles will be produced and delivered over the next three years.

The vehicles supplied in this phase will be based on IDV’s High Mobility range of tactical trucks. Around one-third of the vehicles will be equipped with an armoured cabin to enhance crew protection in operational environments.

According to the company, the production and delivery of the additional trucks demonstrate IDV’s continued support for Romania’s defence capabilities. The programme also reflects the company’s cooperation and integration with Romania’s national industrial ecosystem.

With the completion of the programme, more than 2,900 trucks will enter service with Romania’s national defence forces. The deliveries further strengthen IDV’s position as a key European supplier of high-mobility tactical and logistical military vehicles.

IDV has also secured additional orders from other European customers in recent years. In 2024 the Italian Army signed an agreement for 1,453 trucks, which was extended in 2025 with an additional order for 658 vehicles.

Further expansion occurred in May 2025 when the Dutch Ministry of Defence selected IDV technology for its Army. The agreement with the Netherlands covers the delivery of 785 vehicles for the Dutch armed forces.
