Indra, Escribano, and TRC forge alliance to bolster Spanish Armed Forces’ anti-drone capabilities

By Defence Industry Europe

Indra, Escribano, and TRC have signed a strategic partnership agreement to develop and present a comprehensive counter-drone (C-UAS) solution tailored to the needs of the Spanish Armed Forces. This collaboration formalizes a joint venture between Indra and Escribano, with TRC partnering to leverage its advanced technologies.

The partnership capitalizes on the extensive experience and proven track records of the three companies in deploying operationally tested C-UAS solutions. Indra’s CROW system has already provided effective coverage for military bases and significant events for the Air and Space Force. Concurrently, Escribano and TRC are advancing the CERVUS project, which focuses on vehicle-deployed counter-drone devices for the Army. Additionally, Indra and Escribano are working together on solutions for the Spanish Navy.

By integrating their technologies, the companies aim to deliver a robust and adaptable C-UAS solution that ensures enhanced protection and security for the Armed Forces. This integrated system will be designed for easy deployment and incorporation into both land and naval platforms, as well as the protection of critical infrastructure.

This joint venture promises to augment the capabilities of the Spanish Armed Forces with a more comprehensive and advanced response to emerging battlefield threats. The partnership leverages the specialized knowledge and operational experience acquired from previous deployments to develop cutting-edge anti-drone technologies.

Indra and Escribano have a history of successful collaboration, having worked on anti-drone systems for the European Jey-CUAS project and the upcoming BACO project set for 2025. They are also involved in the future European E-CUAS project, launching in the same year. Furthermore, the two companies have formalized a joint venture to develop a directed energy laser weapon system under the DIAL program.

The inclusion of TRC enhances the industrial base of the joint venture, reinforcing it with advanced technological solutions. This collaboration aligns with the principles of the DIS 2023 Defence Industrial Strategy, emphasizing the creation of national strategic capabilities, investment in research, development, and innovation (R&D&I), and the positioning of Spanish industry within Europe.

This partnership marks the culmination of a cooperative effort that began in July 2022 at the NATO summit, where the companies showcased their diverse C-UAS technologies. The signing of this agreement solidifies their commitment to advancing Spain’s defence capabilities through the development of state-of-the-art anti-drone technologies.
