Israel: high effectiveness of Iron Dome, defensive operation continues

By Arie Egozi from Israel

The Israeli Iron Dome air defence system has once again protected the country from the heavy salvos of rockets launched from Gaza since the beginning of the war on October 7. It was comforting to hear the distinct sound of intercepts above our city, reports our editor from Israel.

Israeli sources report that the system has intercepted 96% of the rockets with trajectories targeting civilian areas. Unfortunately, some rockets hit cities, causing death and injuries.

The Israeli death toll from the Hamas attack is 1,200, as confirmed by the IDF on Wednesday morning. The IDF also confirmed that the number of wounded from the attacks is around 2,700.

The Hamas terror organization in Gaza managed to enter a number of villages located on the border, and until the Israeli army stopped the attack, the terrorists killed civilians who were in their homes in the early hours of the day. Hamas terrorists killed whole families, and in some cases, beheaded children and women.

The IDF stated that Hamas had fired over 5,000 rockets towards Israel since the start of the war. In response, Israel has targeted 2,500 sites in Gaza so far. Gaza has been disconnected from the water supply and electricity. The Israeli airforce dropped hundreds of tons of bombs on Hamas targets. Armed UAVs targeted rocket launching teams around the Gaza strip.

In an emotional speech on Tuesday, US President Joe Biden pledged to ensure that the Jewish state would have all it needs to respond to the devastating weekend onslaught. He also revealed unprecedented and specific details of the “sheer evil” wrought by Hamas against Israel.

“There are moments in this life — I mean this literally — when pure unadulterated evil is unleashed on this world,” he said in a hushed voice during a speech shown live on many American and Israeli television channels. “This is an act of sheer evil.”

With its approximately 5,000 sailors and deck of warplanes, the USS Gerald R. Ford, the Navy’s newest and most technologically advanced aircraft carrier, is sailing to the Mediterranean accompanied by cruisers and destroyers in a show of force, prepared to respond to anything, including possibly preventing more weapons from reaching Hamas.

European countries have also expressed full support for Israel. European diplomats serving in Israel have been exposed to the atrocities performed by Hamas members in the Israeli villages that have been attacked. An Israeli source that met with some of the diplomats said that they were overwhelmed, and some said that the atrocities against the civilian population are worse than those committed by the Nazis.

According to the IDF, in some of the houses taken by Hamas, entire families were executed, including some by beheadings. For the fourth day, the Israeli airforce is bombing Hamas sites in Gaza, including launchers and homes of the organization’s leaders. These leaders are hiding in the Gaza underground web of tunnels, but the IAF managed to kill two of them.

“We will hunt all the others and kill all of them,” an Israeli defence source told Defence Industry Europe. Israel has also attacked the naval force of Hamas and killed some of its members.”
