This delivery marks a significant milestone in the Halcón project, a contract signed in June 2022 between EUROJET Turbo GmbH, the consortium managing the EJ200 engine, and the NATO Eurofighter and Tornado Management Agency (NETMA). The agreement involves supplying 50 EJ200 engines to Spain as part of efforts to enhance the Eurofighter Typhoon fleet.
The EJ200 engine, which powers the Eurofighter Typhoon, is renowned for its performance and reliability. Carlos Alzola, Managing Director of ITP Aero, highlighted its success, stating, “This delivery once again demonstrates the success story of the EJ200 engine and the EUROJET consortium, which has delivered over 1,400 engines to various nations.”
He also emphasised the programme’s importance for European defence and industry, noting, “Recent orders from launch nations such as Spain and Germany strengthen the programme and help us look optimistically at the international export market. The EJ200 is undoubtedly a programme that reinforces our national and European sovereignty while providing highly skilled long-term jobs in Spain.”
The EJ200 programme has been a cornerstone of European collaboration, with significant contributions from Spain and other partner nations. Its success underscores the strategic importance of the Eurofighter Typhoon, a key asset for NATO defence operations.
