JUNGHANS Defence signs seven-year agreement with FMV for fuzes for Archer howitzer

By Defence Industry Europe

JUNGHANS Defence has signed a seven-year framework agreement with the Swedish Defence Materiel Administration (FMV) for the procurement and supply of fuzes for the Archer artillery system. FMV acts on behalf of the Swedish Armed Forces to secure defence capabilities and supply chains.

Fuzes are technologically advanced components that control the timing and manner of artillery shell detonation. Their demand has risen sharply on the global market following Russia’s large-scale invasion of Ukraine in 2022.

JUNGHANS Defence, which specialises exclusively in fuzes and fuze technology, has invested significantly in expanding its production capacities. The company is now positioned as a reliable and innovative partner for the continuous delivery of safe and effective fuzes to FMV.

“Through our framework agreement with JUNGHANS, we are securing both the immediate and long-term supply of fuzes. With this contract, FMV is strengthening the security of supply of ammunition,” said Mattias Lindén, Project Leader at FMV.

“We are pleased with the trust placed in us by FMV and the Swedish Armed Forces. The framework agreement underlines the importance of fuzes as an essential component to ensure the safety and function of the available ammunition,” stated Dr. Kim Eduard Lioe, CEO of JUNGHANS Defence.

The agreement was established following a joint understanding between FMV and the Federal Office of Bundeswehr Equipment, Information Technology and In-Service Support (BAAINBw), FMV’s German counterpart.
