KNDS Deutschland to supply advanced CV90 simulators to modernise Swedish Army training

By Defence Industry Europe

The Swedish defebce procurement agency (FMV) has awarded KNDS Deutschland a contract to deliver three CV9040D simulators. These advanced simulators will represent the combat support vehicles within a tank company, enhancing the Swedish Army’s training capabilities.

Each CV90 simulator includes cabins designed for the driver, turret crew, and infantry squad. This innovative setup allows for the simultaneous training of an entire infantry fighting vehicle crew. Additionally, the simulators will integrate the Swedish command and information system, ensuring realistic and comprehensive training scenarios.

These new CV90 simulators will complement the LEOPARD 2 simulators previously supplied by KNDS Deutschland in December 2023. Together, they will enable fully networked joint training of main battle tanks and infantry fighting vehicles at the company and battalion levels for the first time. This marks a significant step in modernising the Swedish Army’s training infrastructure.

The delivery of the CV90 simulators is scheduled for 2028. A KNDS Deutschland spokesperson stated: “We are proud to continue our collaboration with FMV and contribute to the development of cutting-edge training solutions for the Swedish Armed Forces.”
