The partnership encompasses ten specific areas, including frigate maintenance with full life support, the Vanguard System, Drones and Man Unmanned Teaming (MUM-T), Counter Drone Solutions, Strike missiles, Naval Cyber, Combat Systems, and Naval Collaborative Combat. This collaboration is expected to generate hundreds of jobs in both Norway and France, contributing significantly to innovation and business growth for both companies.
The agreement will also enable the two companies to exchange expertise on cutting-edge technologies and innovate within the defence domain, driven by evolving threats and operational needs. By combining their strengths, Kongsberg and Naval Group aim to secure new market opportunities and enhance the longstanding strategic partnership between Norway and France.
Pierre Éric Pommellet, Chairman and CEO of Naval Group, expressed his enthusiasm for the collaboration, stating, “We are very honoured to sign this major agreement with Kongsberg. This very substantial partnership will allow both of us to share knowledge in defence and naval combat, in a very extensive way.”
Geir Håøy, President and CEO of Kongsberg, echoed this sentiment, emphasising the importance of cooperation between the two industry leaders. “We look forward to exchanging our knowledge and skills with Naval Group. The agreement signals a shared commitment to national security, NATO cooperation and an integrated European defence,” Håøy stated.
The agreement also signals Naval Group’s intent to become a key supplier to the Royal Norwegian Navy.
