Kratos successfully tests Erinyes hypersonic vehicle for U.S. military

Kratos Defense & Security Solutions has successfully tested its Erinyes Hypersonic Test Bed in a recent flight from NASA's Wallops Flight Facility in Virginia. The test, conducted in collaboration with the Missile Defense Agency (MDA) and Naval Sea Systems Command (NAVSEA), marks a significant step in hypersonic technology development.

 

The mission, named Hypersonic Test Bed-2 (HTB-2), showcased new onboard technologies and collected crucial flight data. This data will aid in the design, validation, and assessment of emerging hypersonic technologies for the U.S. Department of Defense (DoD).

Kratos has positioned itself as a leader in affordable and repeatable hypersonic research, providing researchers with real-world flight test opportunities. Dave Carter, President of Kratos Defense & Rocket Support Services (DRSS), highlighted the low-cost and adaptable nature of Erinyesâ„¢, which enables incremental high-speed testing without unnecessary risk.

Eric DeMarco, President and CEO of Kratos, emphasized the company’s commitment to rapidly developing cost-effective hypersonic capabilities. He praised the collaboration with the MDA and the U.S. Navy, stating that their focus on affordability and swift deployment is advancing national security efforts.
