Leonardo DRS secures contract to equip Royal Thailand Army’s Strykers with Battle Management Systems

By Defence Industry Europe

Leonardo DRS has been awarded a contract worth over USD 7 million to supply and integrate cutting-edge Battle Management Systems (BMS) into the Royal Thailand Army’s combat vehicles. The contract was granted by the U.S. Army under the U.S. Government Grant Assistance programme.

As part of the agreement, Leonardo DRS will provide its ruggedized C4I BMS hardware and lead the integration of advanced battlefield technology. The contract covers the installation of BMS software, cyber protection, network integration, training, and ongoing sustainment support for the newly acquired Stryker armoured vehicles.

The project will be carried out in partnership with Chaiseri Defense, a Thai defence company that will assist with installation, training, and local support. This collaboration ensures that the Royal Thailand Army benefits from both international expertise and domestic operational support.

Bill Guyan, Senior Vice President and General Manager of Leonardo DRS Land Electronics, highlighted the importance of equipping allied forces with state-of-the-art battlefield technology. He emphasised that the partnership with Chaiseri Defense will enhance operational capabilities and provide Thai warfighters with the necessary tools for mission success.

The solution offered by Leonardo DRS is based on the company’s international variant of the U.S. Army’s Mounted Family of Computer Systems programme. This BMS enhances command and control, speeds up tactical operations, and improves situational awareness, allowing for better coordination of friendly forces and rapid response in combat scenarios.

Leonardo DRS continues to focus on network computing and integration as a key strategic priority. The company remains a leading provider of C4/C5 technologies to the U.S. military and allied forces worldwide, offering battlefield-proven solutions that enhance data management, communications, and operational efficiency.

As part of its commitment to future warfare technology, Leonardo DRS is investing in next-generation tactical computing, artificial intelligence processing, and modular open-system architectures. These advancements aim to enhance sensor fusion, situational awareness, and decision-making efficiency for military commanders and crews in complex combat environments.
