Leonardo extends Kuwait Eurofighter support contract with integrated services until 2029

By Defence Industry Europe

The Ministry of Defence of Kuwait has exercised an in-service support extension option for its Eurofighter aircraft fleet programme, for which Leonardo is the prime contractor. Under the new agreement, integrated Logistics Support and Training will be delivered locally by Leonardo Aviation Services at Salem Al Sabah Base until December 2029.

The extension strengthens the strategic partnership between Leonardo and Kuwait, following the 2016 contract for 28 Eurofighter Typhoons. Deliveries began at the end of 2021, with most aircraft already in service and built to the most advanced production standard available.

Leonardo Aviation Services, a Kuwaiti company, provides integrated logistic support, including engineering, maintenance, repair, overhaul, supply chain management, and training for both air and ground crews. This tailored approach enables the Kuwait Air Force to sustain operations effectively and efficiently.

Supplying comprehensive support solutions is central to Leonardo’s global strategy to ensure the performance of its technologies. The support activities in Kuwait are expected to maximise the Eurofighter Typhoon’s capabilities in meeting the country’s air defence requirements.
