Leonardo, ST Engineering Antycip form partnership to advance aircraft simulation technology

By Defence Industry Europe

Leonardo has announced a partnership with ST Engineering Antycip, a company specializing in virtual reality, simulation, and engineering services. This collaboration will focus on the development of a new Image Generator based on the Unreal Engine by Epic Games, a renowned real-time 3D creation platform. The initiative is part of Leonardo's broader digital strategy aimed at enhancing aircraft design and pilot training through advanced simulation technologies.

The partnership will leverage the digital twin concept, which involves creating a digital replica of potential aircraft designs to optimize the development and training processes. This approach integrates state-of-the-art technology from the market and proprietary solutions from Leonardo to enhance the digital ecosystem extensively.

Utilizing the Unreal Engine, Leonardo intends to deliver highly realistic virtual environments. This will allow for an increase in the number and complexity of scenarios within these simulations, greatly benefiting pilot training programs. The technology is set to be integrated across a variety of Leonardo’s training devices, including full-flight simulators and various procedural training tools.
