Lithuania receives new 120mm mortars from Rheinmetall Expal Munitions

Renowned for their reliability and adherence to NATO standards, the Expal 120-MX2-SM mortar systems are a key addition to Lithuania’s military arsenal. Their mobility and versatility enhance the firepower and precision of infantry and artillery units, making them highly effective in indirect fire support roles. The mortars boast an impressive range capability of up to 8 kilometers, enabling the effective engagement of distant targets.

The contract for these mortar systems was finalized in autumn 2022 by the Defence Resource Agency under the Ministry of National Defence of Lithuania with Expal Systems. The completion of the entire delivery is scheduled for the summer of this year, with a significant portion already delivered to the Lithuanian Armed Forces by the end of 2023.

Valued at approximately EUR 9.8 million, the contract includes the mortars and their components.
