On 12 June, the Government of Lithuania approved the transfer of 14 M113 armoured personnel carriers to the Armed Forces of Ukraine. Three days later, the Lithuanian defence ministry announced on social media that the vehicles had arrived in Ukraine.

The vehicles were transferred on a non-reimbursable basis as part of Lithuania’s contribution to the Ukraine Demining Coalition, which it co-leads with Iceland. The coalition aims to strengthen the demining capabilities of the Ukrainian Armed Forces and to consolidate and coordinate support from donors for both military and humanitarian demining efforts.

This transfer was initiated by the Lithuanian Ministry of National Defence and the Lithuanian Armed Forces in response to a request from the Government of Ukraine to its allies. It is part of Lithuania’s ongoing support for Ukraine in countering Russian aggression, Lithuanian defence ministry said in a press release.
