The first batch of Rosomak vehicles with the ZSSW-30 unmanned turret system was handed over to the Polish Armed Forces in December 2023. In July 2022, the Polish defence procurement agency (Armament Agency) signed a contract with a consortium of the country’s defence industry firms for the integration of a total of 70 Rosomak combat vehicles (from the Polish Armed Forces’ stocks) with the ZSSW-30 unmanned turret system. This contract is valued at approximately EUR 400 million.
The Polish Armament Agency had earlier signed a large framework agreement with the industry. This agreement provides for the procurement of a total of 341 ZSSW-30 unmanned turret systems.
The ZSSW-30 unmanned turret system was developed by a consortium of Polish defence industry companies, Huta Stalowa Wola (HSW) and WB Electronics. The effectors of the ZSSW-30 are the Bushmaster Mk 44/S 30mm cannon, the UKM-2000 machine gun 7.62mm, and Spike LR anti-tank guided missiles.
“Unmanned turrets provide a significant increase in the capabilities of transporters, especially in the context of combating tanks with a dual launcher of Spike anti-tank guided missiles,” General Staff of Polish Armed Forces said in a social media.
However, according to sources, the Polish Armament Agency plans to develop another version of the ZSSW-30 turret, equipped with the launcher for Javelin missiles.
