The award is part of an indefinite-delivery, indefinite-quantity production contract initially granted in May 2023. Earlier this year, the Javelin team introduced new tooling and test equipment to improve production efficiency in support of increased output.
“Javelin remains the world’s most effective, combat-proven anti-armor system,” said Brian Burton, vice president of Precision Fires and Maneuver at Raytheon, an RTX business. “We’re working closely with the U.S. Army and international customers, and continuing to invest in our production facilities, to meet global demand for Javelin.”
With over 25 international customers, the contract underpins JJV’s capacity to meet rising global demand, now including Brazil and Tunisia. The Javelin is currently fielded on every continent except Antarctica, with the latest order also covering NATO allies Estonia and Bulgaria, as well as Australia in the Indo-Pacific region.
“With Javelin’s continued global demand, our ability to ramp production is crucial in supporting our customers’ needs,” said Rich Liccion, JJV vice president and Lockheed Martin Javelin programme director. “This contract also demonstrates the confidence our customers have in Javelin’s reliability and effectiveness in meeting its mission. We are committed to delivering this critical defence solution to help our partners stay ahead of ready and defend against the ever-evolving threats worldwide.”
The Javelin system is jointly developed and produced by Raytheon in Tucson, Arizona, and Lockheed Martin in Orlando, Florida. To date, the venture has delivered more than 55,000 Javelin missiles and over 12,000 reusable Command Launch Units.
