The expansion forms part of Lockheed Martin’s broader effort to support what it describes as the “Arsenal of Freedom” by scaling advanced munitions production. The initiative aims to provide enhanced capabilities to joint forces while leveraging next-generation technologies to address evolving threats.
PrSM is designed to replace the legacy Army Tactical Missile System and deliver extended range, improved lethality and greater platform flexibility. The system uses digital engineering and mission integration across industry and government, and received Milestone C approval from the U.S. Army in July 2025, marking readiness for full-rate production and deployment.
The company said it is positioned to meet increased demand through its existing manufacturing footprint. Its Camden, Arkansas facility includes more than 115,500 square feet of production space dedicated to PrSM, with around 400 employees currently supporting the programme.
Lockheed Martin has also aligned its production expansion with the Department of War’s Acquisition Transformation Strategy. Under related agreements, the company has increased production capacity for PAC-3 Missile Segment Enhancement interceptors and Terminal High Altitude Area Defense interceptors.
“Lockheed Martin delivers the advanced precision fires capabilities the warfighter needs, including the Precision Strike Missile, which expands deep-strike capability,” said Jim Taiclet, chairman, president and chief executive officer of Lockheed Martin. “We are working closely with the Department of War and the U.S. Army to scale production to meet operational demand and ensure the joint force has the capabilities needed to deter and defeat emerging threats.”
Looking ahead, the company plans a multibillion-dollar investment over the next three years to expand and modernise its production network. This includes upgrades and new capabilities across more than 20 facilities in Arkansas, Alabama, Florida, Massachusetts and Texas to meet growing demand for munitions.
