The center integrates prototyping and manufacturing within a single environment. This approach allows engineers and production teams to collaborate closely, enabling faster feedback and more efficient design adjustments.
Officials said the facility is built around a flexible, modular production model. The layout can be reconfigured to meet changing program requirements and improve manufacturing efficiency.
The Rapid Fielding Center is directly connected to advanced production equipment and skilled personnel. This integration is expected to reduce development timelines and lower overall costs.
Lockheed Martin said prototypes that previously took years to develop can now be produced and validated within months. The facility also captures life-cycle data during prototyping to support continuous product improvements.
“The Rapid Fielding Center showcases how Lockheed Martin is leading the industry with innovation, speed and a relentless customer focus,” said Randy Crites.
“From concept to low-rate production, we can now deliver mission-critical solutions in a fraction of the traditional timeline, directly supporting the government’s urgent ramp-up needs,” he added.
The company has invested more than $7 billion since President Donald Trump’s first term to expand production capacity for key systems. Approximately $2 billion of that total has been directed toward increasing munitions production.
Lockheed Martin also plans additional multibillion-dollar investments over the next three years. These efforts will expand and modernize more than 20 facilities across several U.S. states.
The upgrades will include advanced manufacturing technologies, new production lines and updated plant layouts. Officials said these improvements are aimed at meeting rising demand for defense systems.
“Over the coming months, our multidisciplinary teams will work hand in hand with U.S. partners to execute additional prototype runs, integrate emerging technologies and transition capabilities to full-rate production,” said Mike Patton.
“The Rapid Fielding Center gives our customers the agility, flexibility and discreet mobility they require to maintain decisive advantage across any operational domain,” he added.
The company said the facility represents a shift toward faster and more adaptive production models. It is intended to support rapid capability delivery as part of broader efforts to strengthen national defense readiness.
