Lockheed Martin signs $1.7 billion agreement for AH-64E Apache programme

By Defence Industry Europe

The United States Department of Defense has announced the signing of a $1.7 billion framework agreement with Lockheed Martin, a leading American defence solutions provider, for the supply of M-TADS/PNVS electro-optical fire control systems. The advanced equipment will be integrated into Boeing AH-64E Apache attack helicopters.

In a statement released by the Pentagon, officials confirmed that while the framework agreement has been finalised, specific executive orders under the deal are expected to be signed in the future to initiate deliveries.

According to the Department of Defense, the agreement will be fully executed by the end of 2027.

Lockheed Martin describes the M-TADS/PNVS as a combat-proven, advanced electro-optical fire control system, enabling AH-64D/E Apache helicopter pilots to conduct long-range precision engagements and pilotage operations during day, night, and adverse weather conditions. With over 14 years of sustained performance improvements, the system provides extended standoff ranges for U.S. forces and delivers enhanced resolution for navigation, targeting, and situational awareness.

Since its initial fielding in 2005, more than 1,240 systems have been delivered to the U.S. Army and international customers. Lockheed Martin continues to enhance the system with technological upgrades such as the Modernised Day Sensor Assembly (M-DSA) and Modernised Turret (M-TUR), reaffirming the company’s commitment to providing innovative and cost-effective sensor capabilities to global defence partners.
