Lockheed Martin signs $4.3 billion framework agreement for JASSM-ER and LRASM missiles

By Defence Industry Europe

On 31 July, the United States Department of Defense announced the signing of a framework agreement with Lockheed Martin Corporation for the production and delivery of additional batches of AGM-158 JASSM-ER cruise missiles and AGM-158C LRASM anti-ship missiles. The total potential value of the contract amounts to $4.3 billion, with an initial tranche of $1.4 billion released upon signing.

According to the Department of Defense, the contracted production batches are scheduled for delivery by the end of January 2033. The agreement covers missile deliveries for the U.S. Armed Forces as well as export customers under the federal Foreign Military Sales (FMS) programme.

In relation to the July contract, the Department confirmed that an undisclosed number of AGM-158B JASSM-ER missiles will be supplied to four export recipients: Poland, the Kingdom of the Netherlands, Japan, and Finland. These countries collectively fund the first executive order under the contract with a total of $239 million.

This marks another funding round for missile production for the above-mentioned nations. The Netherlands, Japan, and Finland are acquiring the AGM-158B JASSM-ER for use with their Lockheed Martin F-35A/B Lightning II multirole combat aircraft.

In addition, Japan plans to operate the missiles with its modernised Boeing F-15J Eagle aircraft.
