Developed in record time, the MATARIS range features the MT-10, MX-10 DAMOCLES, MV-25 OSKAR, and MV-100 VELOCE 330, each equipped with a purpose-built warhead from KNDS. One of the systems is already operational in Ukraine, while another is set to enter service with the French Armed Forces in July 2025.
The MX-10 DAMOCLES, a short-range quadcopter-wing LMS, was developed, qualified, and produced within 12 months under the French Ministry of Defence’s LMS programme. “With this development, KNDS and DELAIR are poised to begin mass production of short-range LMS, becoming France’s primary supplier of short-range remotely operated munitions,” the company stated.
The MX-10 DAMOCLES integrates a fragmentation-incendiary warhead from KNDS Ammo France and a quadcopter wing manufactured by DELAIR. Designed to engage infantry, unarmoured vehicles, and light armoured vehicles, it underscores the shift towards rapid, flexible strike capabilities.
Meanwhile, the MV-25 OSKAR, selected under the French Defence Innovation Agency’s COLIBRI initiative in 2022, is already operational in Ukraine. Developed and fielded in just two years, the fixed-wing, 25 km-range system was successfully test-flown with a live warhead in June 2024, receiving “excellent feedback from the Ukrainian armed forces.”
To address longer-range threats, KNDS has partnered with EOS TECHNOLOGIE on the MV-100 VELOCE 330, a fixed-wing platform capable of 100 km range and speeds exceeding 400 km/h. Powered by a turbine engine, this system features a 2.5 kg anti-armour warhead developed by KNDS Ammo France, based on BONUS shell technology.
An operational detonation test for the VELOCE 330 is planned before the end of 2025. The system is designed to neutralise high-value armoured targets and will undergo additional upgrades following delivery to all French military branches starting June 2025.
KNDS describes MATARIS as “easy to use, highly secure,” and capable of engaging a wide range of targets, thanks in part to its proprietary electronic arming safety device. The company emphasised that its cooperation with DELAIR and EOS TECHNOLOGIE has produced “the first French group to offer such a comprehensive solution” in the LMS sector.
