Milrem Robotics successfully integrates Akeron LP missile system with Type-X combat vehicle

By Defence Industry Europe

Milrem Robotics announced on 1 July 2025 the successful integration and testing of the long-range MBDA Akeron LP missile system with its Type-X robotic combat vehicle. The integration took place under the Modular Architecture Solution for EU States (MARSEUS) project.

Simultaneously, the operational deployment of the RFHunter Direction Finder, developed by Cypriot company SignalGeneriX, was carried out, with the system installed in the vehicle’s turret. The RFHunter enables passive detection of hostile signals, enhancing situational awareness and allowing engagement of targets beyond line of sight.

“This integrated configuration of the Type-X, Akeron LP and RFHunter will enable precision strikes and ensure survivability and resilience against electromagnetic interference,” Milrem Robotics stated. The company emphasised that the advancements are the result of cooperation with the defence ministries of France, Sweden, Belgium, and Cyprus.

The MARSEUS project is a 36-month initiative funded by the European Defence Fund, launched in December 2022 and scheduled to conclude in November 2025. The programme involves 15 companies and institutions from Belgium, France, Sweden, and Cyprus, including John Cockerill Defense, Arquus, FN Herstal, Novadem, Bull SAS, Exensor, BAE Systems Hägglunds, SAAB Dynamics, Xenics NV, Royal Military Academy of Belgium, SignalGeneriX, Additess, and Delair.

The Type-X RCV is a tracked, hybrid-electric unmanned ground vehicle, offering ballistic protection at STANAG 4569 Level 4 and mine protection at Level 1. It provides a highly mobile and survivable platform suitable for modern battlefield requirements.

The RFHunter system, previously exhibited at DEFEA 2025 in Athens, was designed by SignalGeneriX to detect, locate, and classify communication signals in real time. Its integration further extends the vehicle’s reconnaissance and electronic warfare capabilities.

The Akeron LP (Longue Portée) missile, developed by MBDA France, is a versatile munition intended for launch from helicopters, MALE-class UAVs, naval platforms, and armoured combat vehicles. It has a range of over 8 km when fired from land-based launchers, and up to 20 km when launched from helicopters or drones.
