Milrem Robotics to supply Ukraine with record fleet of THeMIS unmanned ground vehicles

By Defence Industry Europe

Milrem Robotics, the world’s leading developer of robotics and autonomous systems, will deliver the largest fleet of Unmanned Ground Vehicles (UGVs) to Ukraine as part of a donation from a European government. The move comes as European states respond to the worsening security environment by reinforcing support for Ukraine and boosting cooperation within the European Defence Industrial base.

“The cooperation between our governments and leading defence industry partners underscores how Europe can respond to shared threats with agility and unity,” said Kuldar Väärsi, CEO of Milrem Robotics. “We take pride in contributing to Ukraine’s defence capabilities through our combat-proven THeMIS UGVs,” Väärsi added.

The delivery has been arranged with scalability in mind, making possible additional supplies if required in future. Milrem Robotics will also provide training for Ukrainian operators to ensure continued operational readiness in the field.

The THeMIS is a versatile, cost-effective and combat-proven unmanned vehicle platform designed to support dismounted troops and improve battlefield effectiveness. It is already deployed in 19 countries, with the new units joining the 15 THeMIS vehicles in Ukraine that have demonstrated their combat value since 2022.

This donation reflects Europe’s shared commitment to strengthening Ukraine’s defence and consolidating regional security. The initiative also highlights growing collaboration between governments and industry in the European defence sector.
