Rafael Systems Global Sustainment (RSGS) has been selected as an awardee in the Missile Defense Agency’s second series of staggered awards under the Scalable Homeland Innovative Enterprise Layered Defense (SHIELD) Multiple Award Indefinite Delivery, Indefinite Quantity contract. The company said the selection marks a milestone as it expands its role in supporting the evolving missile defence architecture of the United States.

The SHIELD programme is a core element of the Missile Defense Agency mission to advance layered defensive capabilities to protect the United States and its warfighters from emerging threats. Under the award, RSGS is eligible to compete for future task orders covering the development, integration and sustainment of innovative defensive technologies.

RSGS will work closely with its partner and subcontractor Rafael Advanced Defense Systems, which is described as a global leader in missile defence, intercept technologies and integrated system solutions. The company said that while RSGS is fully mitigated for foreign ownership, control or influence, the partnership provides access to proven operational technologies and a broad product portfolio relevant to SHIELD.

Commenting on the award, LTG (R) Joe Anderson, chief executive of Rafael Systems Global Sustainment, said, “This opportunity underscores the trust placed in our capabilities and our commitment to delivering advanced defense solutions to safeguard our nation’s warfighters.” He added, “Together with RAFAEL, we look forward to contributing cutting-edge technologies that enhance homeland defense and strengthen the layered deterrence posture of the United States.”

The collaboration combines U.S.-based sustainment, engineering and integration expertise with field-proven systems including advanced interceptors, sensors, command-and-control technologies and rapid-deployment platforms. RSGS said this approach enables faster adaptation to evolving threats and supports delivery of capabilities across the full life cycle of SHIELD-related programmes.

RSGS said its selection reflects its growing presence within the U.S. defence industrial base and its focus on innovation, readiness and operational excellence. The company provides sustainment, engineering, integration and lifecycle support services to U.S. defence customers while operating as a FOCI-mitigated entity aligned with national security requirements.
