The groundbreaking ceremony, held on 10 October 2025, was attended by representatives from the U.S. and Norwegian governments, industry partners, and officials from the State of Florida. The investment reflects Nammo’s commitment to supporting U.S. defence programmes and enhancing transatlantic industrial cooperation.
“Today’s groundbreaking marks an investment in local industry and shows our commitment to our U.S. and allied partners to ensure they have the rocket motor capacity they need for the future,” said Morten Brandtzæg, CEO of Nammo. “This factory will provide long-term benefits to national security, as well as to the community here in Perry.”
Nammo has a long-standing track record in solid rocket motor propulsion, having delivered more than 35,000 motors for the Sidewinder programme since the 1960s. The company also supplies motors for systems such as AMRAAM and ESSM and leads in advanced technologies, including solid fuel ramjet propulsion.
The new facility will be Nammo’s latest addition to its U.S. operations, which currently include seven production sites and employ roughly one third of its total workforce. Once completed, the Perry factory will improve supply chain resilience and ensure readiness to meet future demand for rocket propulsion systems.
Nammo, headquartered in Raufoss, Norway, operates across 27 production sites with nearly 4,000 employees in 12 allied nations. The company is a leading global provider of rocket motors, shoulder-fired systems, and specialty ammunition.
