Nammo signs deal with Repkon to supply ammunition filling line for new facility in Denmark

By Defence Industry Europe

Turkish company Repkon has signed an agreement with Norwegian defence firm Nammo to establish a 155mm artillery ammunition filling facility in Denmark. The initiative forms part of the Nordic Defence Cooperation (NORDEFCO), which aims to enhance joint defence capabilities among Denmark, Finland, Iceland, Norway and Sweden.

As part of efforts to revive Denmark’s national ammunition production, the Danish government signed a deal with Nammo, which in turn contracted Repkon for the technical implementation. The facility will be located at the Elling plant and focus on the filling of TNT, IMX-101, and IMX-104 explosives into artillery ammunition.

Repkon stated it will establish a fully equipped filling line designed for high automation and minimal staffing, enabling efficient and modern production. “This facility will also be capable of filling other modern, highly destructive and next-generation explosives,” the company confirmed.

Repkon is recognised as one of the few global firms in the artillery filling industry, with prior projects in the United States, Germany, Spain, Ukraine, Pakistan and Azerbaijan. The company recently acquired Bowas, a defence firm with operations in Austria, Italy and Switzerland, known for its expertise in explosive and raw material equipment.

According to Repkon, the acquisition of Bowas has significantly boosted its technological capabilities and enabled the firm to meet increasing client demands. Nammo, with headquarters in Norway, employs 3,700 staff across 27 production facilities in 11 countries, and is regarded as a global leader in specialised ammunition and defence technology.
