Naval Group secures maintenance contract for UAE’s Gowind corvettes

By Defence Industry Europe

Naval Group has signed a three-year in-service support contract with the United Arab Emirates (UAE) Navy and Tawazun Council to maintain the Gowind corvettes Bani Yas and Al Emarat. The agreement, announced on 17th February during the IDEX 2025 exhibition, ensures the vessels remain at peak operational readiness.

The contract follows the successful construction of the two corvettes at Naval Group’s Lorient shipyard in France. Bani Yas was delivered to the UAE Navy in October 2023, while Al Emarat is set for delivery in June 2024.

Naval Group’s support will include technical assistance, training for base maintainers, and the supply of spare parts for scheduled maintenance. Several technical stops will take place over the next three years at the UAE Navy Base to ensure the ships’ continued performance.

The agreement also involves collaboration with a local shipyard to strengthen maintenance capabilities. Additionally, Naval Group is working with UAE authorities to integrate more digitalisation into support operations, enhancing efficiency in future maintenance.
