Northrop Grumman teams with Taiwanese firms to deliver AN/TPS-78 Advanced Capabilities Radar

Northrop Grumman has formed partnerships with Taiwanese companies to provide advanced radar systems to Taiwan. Ramatek Company, Champion Auto, and Vivian and Vincent International Trading Company Ltd. have signed memoranda of understanding with the American defence firm to bring the AN/TPS-78 Advanced Capabilities Radar to the island.

 

Greg Teitelbaum, vice president, land and maritime sensors, Northrop Grumman, said: “The AN/TPS-78 ADCAP radar is a proven, long-range and highly mobile system that will significantly enhance Taiwan’s air surveillance capabilities. We are dedicated to partnering with Taiwanese industry to strengthen Taiwan’s self-defense capacity.”

The AN/TPS-78 ADCAP radar is based on more than 60 years of company experience in high-performance radar systems and is already fielded worldwide. Operating in the S-band frequency, the system reduces bandwidth interference while providing superior performance in highly cluttered environments.

 

 

Its stacked beam architecture enables detection of high- and low-altitude targets under all weather conditions. With a compact size designed for mobility and reliability, the system offers an easily transportable solution with low-cost logistics.
