“The Northrop Grumman AN/TPS-78 ADCAP radar provides the long-range coverage and precision tracking required by the Paraguayan Air Force to monitor and secure the country’s airspace. Northrop Grumman is committed to rapidly delivering this vital technology,” said Greg Teitelbaum, vice president, land and maritime sensors at Northrop Grumman.
The acquisition was discussed during a recent meeting between Paraguayan President Santiago Peña and U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio, who highlighted the radar’s role in supporting Paraguay’s counter-narcotics and counter-weapons trafficking missions. The agreement also carries economic benefits linked to the country’s expanding security and defence cooperation with the US.
The AN/TPS-78 ADCAP radar builds on more than six decades of Northrop Grumman experience in advanced radar systems. Operating in the S-band to minimise interference, it offers performance in cluttered environments, with stacked beam architecture allowing detection of high- and low-altitude targets in all weather conditions, while its compact design ensures mobility and reduced logistical costs.
Northrop Grumman said the contract reflects its position as a leading aerospace and defence technology provider. The company stated that it delivers pioneering solutions designed to equip customers with the capabilities to connect, protect and advance security worldwide.
