NSPA and MBDA sign agreement to support Akeron MP guided missile system

By Defence Industry Europe

The NATO Support and Procurement Agency (NSPA) and MBDA have signed an Outline Agreement for the supply of materials and product support services related to the Akeron MP weapon system. The agreement was concluded on 16 June 2025 during the Paris Air Show.

This Outline Agreement supports the ramp-up of the Akeron MP, a fifth-generation medium-range multi-purpose missile system developed to meet the evolving operational requirements of NATO Allies and Partners. It establishes a centralised, flexible, and transparent contractual framework for future procurement and support activities.

The agreement builds on NSPA’s role as NATO’s lead organisation for multinational acquisition, support and sustainment, and on MBDA’s experience in precision-guided weapon systems. Ms Stacy Cummings, NSPA General Manager, stated: “This agreement is another confirmation of NSPA’s ability to enable multinational cooperation and deliver operational capability where and when it is needed.”

“By working with leading industry partners like MBDA, we ensure our customers benefit from cost-efficient, timely, and mission-ready solutions,” Ms Cummings added. The agreement reflects continued cooperation between NATO and European industry in support of collective defence.

The Akeron MP is a network-enabled missile system designed to engage a variety of targets, including armoured vehicles, fortifications, and personnel in complex operational settings. Its adoption by NATO nations contributes to maintaining credible, agile, and interoperable land forces.
