On 8 December 2022, NSPA General Manager, Ms Stacy Cummings, participated in the European Defence Agency (EDA) Annual Conference. The high-level event brought together the defence community to discuss European defence investment, joint capabilities, and the nexus between cooperation and competition.

Ms Cummings joined an expert panel that included Mr Kris Peeters, Vice-President at the European Investment Bank; Mr Timo Pesonen, Director General, DG DEFIS at the European Commission and Vice Admiral Arie Jan De Waard, National Armaments Director and Director of the Defence Materiel Organisation of the The Netherlands. The four speakers discussed joint capability development challenges in Europe.

“Fostering complementarity, coherence and interoperability for the development of defense capabilities will remain one of the key issues in European and transatlantic defence cooperation. Complementary NATO and EU efforts in all of these areas would reinforce economies of scale, resilience and responsiveness” said Ms  Stacy Cummings, NSPA General Manager.

This year, the conference theme was Investing in European Defence. It took place in hybrid format, with over 300 participants gathering in person in Brussels, and a further 1,000 attending online.
