The NATO Support and Procurement Agency (NSPA) supports the Italian Army (Esercito Italiano) with the procurement of a Multipurpose Complex for Maintenance of Combat Vehicle (CPMVC – “Complesso Polivalente Manutenzione Veicoli da Combattimento”).

The current geopolitical environment requires armed forces to increase their readiness and capabilities in terms of preparation and support for immediate response. Components used in the land domain are key to increased readiness and preparedness as forces increasingly deploy at the last minute.

Thanks to its outstanding expertise in the acquisition of engineered deployable equipment, NSPA was tasked by the Italian Army with the procurement of four CPMVCs.

The first CPMVC was tested and commissioned in September 2023 for the 8th “Lancieri di Montebello” Regiment, Roma, Italy.

The CPMVC is a deployable and modular workshop for the maintenance of Italian military vehicles, to include the VBM 8×8 family (Freccia), the Centauro II and Ariete tanks.

This workshop structure is highly customizable owing to its double modularity (width and length) allowing users to decide what configuration is best, according to the available footprint and type of vehicle that needs to undergo maintenance. This ensures a high flexibility of use and a fast configuration necessary in the logistics organisation of the structure.

The CPMVC structures and equipment are conceived for being deployed in various terrain conditions and transported with ISO containers.

The CPMVC is composed of a main tented structure interconnected with a series of multipurpose containers hosting different services including mechanical workshops, compressed air, run-flat tire maintenance, warehouse/storage, office and ablutions.

Additionally, the complex has a deployable lifting crane of almost 10 tonnes and a set of specialised maintenance workshop tools and equipment.
