Pacific Defense, along with its affiliate Perceptronics, has announced a follow-on contract awarded by the U.S. Air Force Life Cycle Management Center (AFLCMC) to enhance advanced Electronic Warfare (EW) mission systems. The 12-month contract, running until December 2025, builds upon prior development efforts and involves further testing and implementation of the U.S. Government’s EW software frameworks.

These frameworks align with the Sensor Open System Architecture (SOSA) and Open Mission System (OMS) standards, ensuring seamless integration with Air Force platforms. The initiative also explores the use of Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Machine Learning (ML) algorithms to process radio frequency (RF) emitters, with the ultimate goal of deploying these capabilities in operationally representative environments through an open architecture pod.

Perceptronics plays a pivotal role in developing AI/ML applications to address complex defence challenges as part of its partnership with Pacific Defense. Elan Freedy, General Manager of Perceptronics, emphasised the importance of innovation, stating, “Our core focus is on the innovative application of AI and ML techniques to enhance the operational effectiveness of mission solutions.”

Frank Pietryka, Vice President of EW, SIGINT, and Autonomy at Pacific Defense, highlighted the significance of the project, saying, “The integration of these solutions into the Electronic Warfare mission is a national priority, and we are proud to collaborate with Perceptronics to support the USAF in addressing this critical challenge.”

Work on the contract will be conducted primarily in Nashua, New Hampshire; El Segundo, California; and Fairfax, Virginia. Pacific Defense, known for its expertise in C5ISR, Electronic Warfare, and Signals Intelligence technologies, continues to push the boundaries of innovation by leveraging Modular Open Systems Approach (MOSA) standards.
