The U.S. Department of War announced it has signed an additional contract with Lockheed Martin to expand its order for AN/TPY-4 air surveillance radars. The agreement covers one system, is valued at $19 million, includes full funding at the time of award, and calls for delivery by the end of December 2027.

This marks another U.S. order for the AN/TPY-4 radar following a January contract signed on January 16 for three units. The U.S. Air Force has declared a long-term requirement for 35 radars of this type, while Lockheed Martin has so far secured orders for 13 production systems.

Beyond domestic procurement, Lockheed Martin has also received a growing number of export contracts for the AN/TPY-4, with Norway, Sweden, Denmark, and one undisclosed country selecting the system. Sales are conducted both through the Foreign Military Sales process and via the Direct Commercial Sales route, limiting the availability of complete public data.

The AN/TPY-4 is intended to form the backbone of a long-range air surveillance network. The radar uses an active electronically scanned array with gallium nitride-based transmit-receive modules, offers vertical coverage of up to 90 degrees, and is designed for reliable operation in all weather conditions while allowing future upgrades and system integration.
