Polish state-owned defence group PGZ has delivered the first batch of Borsuk infantry fighting vehicles (IFVs) to the Polish Armed Forces. The handover ceremony took place on 4 December at Huta Stalowa Wola (HSW), the PGZ subsidiary responsible for the vehicle’s development and production.

According to PGZ, the initial delivery includes 15 Borsuk vehicles. The milestone follows a contract signed in March 2025 between PGZ and Poland’s Armament Agency for the supply of 111 vehicles. The agreement, valued at more than PLN 6.5 billion (approximately EUR 1.55 billion), is scheduled to be completed by 2029.

Further procurement is planned under a framework agreement signed in February 2023, which covers the potential acquisition of up to 1,400 vehicles. If fully executed, the deal would mark one of the largest armoured vehicle modernisation programmes in Europe.

The Borsuk is a new-generation amphibious tracked infantry fighting vehicle designed to transport and protect troops against small arms fire, anti-tank grenade launchers and improvised explosive devices. Its armament includes a 30 mm Mk44S Bushmaster cannon, a twin launcher for Spike anti-tank guided missiles, and a coaxial 7.62 mm UKM-2000C machine gun.

Polish defence officials have expressed confidence that the Borsuk could become a competitive export product for international markets. However, no official information has been released regarding negotiations with potential foreign customers.
