Russian President Vladimir Putin has announced that Russia launched a medium-range ballistic missile strike on a Ukrainian military-industrial facility in retaliation for recent Ukrainian attacks using Western-supplied long-range weapons.

Speaking in a televised address, Putin stated, “In response to the use of American and British long-range weapons, on November 21 of this year, the Russian armed forces launched a combined strike on one of the facilities of the military-industrial complex of Ukraine.”

The Russian leader revealed that the strike also served as a test of the new “Oreshnik” hypersonic missile system, which has been developed as a countermeasure to NATO’s perceived aggressive actions. “In combat conditions, one of the newest Russian medium-range missile systems was tested, among other things. In this case, with a ballistic missile in a nuclear-free hypersonic equipment,” Putin said.

Putin reiterated Moscow’s stance on retaliatory action against countries supplying weapons used against Russian forces. He warned that Russia could target military installations in any nation providing arms to Ukraine, heightening tensions between Moscow and Western allies.
