Janusz Zakręcki, President and General Director of PZL Mielec, noted the importance of the delivery. “This delivery of the last two contracted Black Hawk helicopters brings the Polish Armed Force’s fleet to eight aircraft, which will significantly enhance their operational capabilities and increase the country’s security,” he stated.
The S-70i Black Hawk helicopters are designed for reliability and versatility in challenging operational environments. Recent operations, such as flood response in southern Poland, have demonstrated their capabilities, including transporting essential equipment and personnel during emergency situations.
PZL Mielec has been a key producer of Black Hawk helicopters and components for global markets. Since 2010, the company has delivered helicopters to 18 customers in 11 countries and manufactured more than 670 cabins and 590 cones and pylons for the Black Hawk program.
In addition to helicopters, PZL Mielec produces major components for Lockheed Martin’s F-16 Block 70/72 programme, including rear and central fuselage structures and cockpit sections. The facility, Lockheed Martin’s largest manufacturing site outside the United States, plays a significant role in both local and international aerospace production.
The Polish Armed Forces have now received a total of eight Black Hawk helicopters through two contracts with PZL Mielec. The first agreement, signed in 2019, provided four helicopters, all delivered on time and to the Ministry of Defence’s specifications. The latest deliveries further enhance Poland’s defence and operational capabilities.
