Quantum Systems acquires AirRobot to strengthen drone capabilities for Bundeswehr

By Defence Industry Europe

Quantum Systems GmbH has announced the acquisition of AirRobot GmbH, securing critical drone capabilities for the German Bundeswehr and European defence partners. This strategic move will expand Quantum Systems' portfolio and reinforce its position in AI-driven aerial technology.

AirRobot, based in Arnsberg, Germany, is a key supplier of compact, robust UAV solutions for military and government applications. The company will continue operating as an independent entity within the Quantum Systems Group, ensuring continuity in development, production, and maintenance.

This acquisition integrates AirRobot’s expertise in copter drones with Quantum Systems’ advanced fixed-wing reconnaissance drones and AI-driven software. The collaboration will drive innovation in unmanned aviation, enhancing the MIKADO II programme (2022-2032) for the Bundeswehr and the TIQUILA programme (2023-2033) for the UK Ministry of Defence.

The deal guarantees an uninterrupted supply of critical drone technology to the Bundeswehr, securing ongoing operations at AirRobot’s Arnsberg facility. Both companies will leverage their combined expertise to develop more powerful, AI-driven drone solutions for security and defence.

“This acquisition strengthens our position as an innovative provider of drone technologies for defence and security applications,” said Sven Kruck, Managing Director of Quantum Systems. “We are securing strategic supply contracts while advancing technological sovereignty in Europe.”
