Rafael hosts inaugural BNET Users’ Club in Germany highlighting tactical communications system

By Defence Industry Europe

A milestone in tactical communication and defence cooperation was reached last week with the first BNET Users’ Club in Kiel, Germany, hosted by Dynamit Nobel Defense Digital (DND Digital), a subsidiary of Rafael Advanced Defense Systems. The event marked the debut of BNET’s localised production and integration facility in Germany, bringing together representatives from eight nations.

A live field demonstration covered more than 200 square kilometres in northern Germany, featuring vehicular and handheld variants of BNET in complex scenarios. Participants observed broadband throughput, seamless battlefield connectivity, and real-time command and control within a mobile, self-forming MESH topology under contested conditions.

The demonstration showcased BNET Tactical Application, the High-Capacity Line-of-Sight waveform of up to 100 Mbps, patented Multi-Frequency Channel Reception scaling to over 1,000 nodes, and autonomous spectrum management. These capabilities position BNET as a spectrum-aware software-defined radio designed for modern, multi-dimensional operations across air, land, and joint forces.

The event highlighted Rafael’s strategy of technology transfer and localisation, with full production of BNET in Germany set to begin in 2026. This approach ensures sovereign capability, supply chain security, and long-term support for European and partner nations, reflecting similar programmes previously completed in other countries.

Yoav Wermuth, VP C3I Directorate at Rafael, said: “The BNET Users’ Club reflects our commitment to a growing, informed, and collaborative user community. BNET is already operational in multiple countries worldwide, and through structured technology transfers, we empower our partners to adopt, adapt, and evolve the system independently – without compromising technological superiority.”

Andreas Dohrn, Managing Director of DND Digital, stated: “Hosting this event in Kiel – at the heart of our production site – demonstrates that BNET is now not just a world-class product, but a European-made solution. We’re excited to bring this capability to our continent and beyond, tailored to the operational needs of modern commanders.”

The Users’ Club is intended to become a recurring platform for knowledge exchange and user-driven innovation. Insights shared during the meeting will directly influence BNET’s development cycle, ensuring its evolution in line with the demands of modern warfare and multinational operations.
