By Defence Industry Europe

Minister of Defence of Ukraine Denys Shmyhal met with a delegation of KNDS Deutschland led by Executive Director Ralf Ketzel. During the meeting, both sides discussed strengthening cooperation in defence production and repair capabilities.

Denys Shmyhal expressed appreciation for the company’s support, stating: “KNDS is a leading arms manufacturer whose products have already proven effective on the battlefield. We focused on enhancing industrial cooperation and discussed the establishment of new joint ventures in Ukraine for the production of equipment and spare parts.”

The discussions also covered the creation of repair and service hubs to ensure faster maintenance of weapon systems. KNDS Deutschland plans to establish a network of heavy equipment repair centres in Ukraine, with the first three Gepard air defence systems already restored under the initiative.

According to the Defence Minister, KNDS Deutschland aims to learn directly from Ukrainian troops’ experience with its equipment. “We agreed to establish communication channels that will allow the company to enhance its products by incorporating lessons from modern warfare,” Denys Shmyhal said.

He further informed the delegation about the upcoming launch of Defence City, a special legal framework for defence enterprises. “This represents transparent regulations and well-defined conditions for investment and collaborative projects,” emphasised Denys Shmyhal.
