EU defence industry submitted 82 proposals by yesterday’s deadline under the first ever Act in Support of Ammunition Production (ASAP) calls for proposals.

In support of ramping-up ammunition and missile production, on 18 October 2023 the Commission adopted the Work Programme foreseen in the Regulation on supporting Ammunition Production (ASAP) for 2023-2025 and published calls for proposals with a budget of EUR 500 million.

The proposals received address all five calls for proposals (powder, explosives, shells, missiles, testing/certification) to fund projects improving European production capacities of defence products and supporting the resilience of the related supply chains. ASAP projects will address bottlenecks throughout the supply chains of ammunition and missiles in the EU and Norway, by supporting industry to rapidly adjust to new market trends and reduce dependencies.

The Commission services will now start the admissibility and eligibility checks of the received proposals. This will be followed by an evaluation of the submitted proposals. The results of the evaluation are expected to be announced by the end of March 2024.
