Raytheon showcases advanced ASTARTE system integration at Project Convergence Capstone 5

By Defence Industry Europe

Raytheon, an RTX business, has demonstrated the successful integration of its ASTARTE system with multiple military command and control platforms during Project Convergence Capstone 5.

ASTARTE, which stands for Air Space Total Awareness for Rapid Tactical Execution, is developed by Raytheon Advanced Technology. It is designed to enhance airspace management and deconfliction in complex, high-density battlespaces.

The system creates a real-time common operational picture by integrating with existing command and control systems. It predicts airspace usage and reduces planning time by automating course-of-action generation for joint fires.

“ASTARTE’s advanced capabilities in airspace deconfliction and mission planning provide a technological edge that can enhance overall effectiveness in multi-domain operations,” said Colin Whelan, president of Advanced Technology at Raytheon. “This makes the system an extremely valuable asset for modern, complex, large scale military operations.”

In a Live, Virtual, Constructive training environment, Army and Air Force personnel jointly engaged dynamic targets. They used a combination of fires, fixed-wing aircraft, and attack helicopters, with ASTARTE providing function-specific information to each operator.

Based on its analysis, ASTARTE issued real-time recommendations, improving both speed and quality of decision-making. This represented a significant improvement over existing manual and isolated systems.

Since its earlier demonstration at Capstone 4, the ASTARTE system has undergone enhancements to support larger scenarios and offer greater reliability.
