“We see the summit decisions as a mandate for the industry to enable a secure future in Europe,” stated Dr Alexander Sagel, CEO of RENK Group AG. “RENK’s focus is therefore on providing reliable, powerful, and future-proof propulsion solutions to further strengthen NATO’s deterrence and defence capabilities.”
With its strength across Vehicle Mobility Solutions (VMS), Marine and Industry, and Slide Bearings, RENK is well placed to address growing technological needs across both land and naval forces. The group’s recent international expansion, highlighted by the acquisition of Cincinnati Gearing Systems, supports this global strategy.
“In order to further expand our technological leadership and meet the requirements of modern armies, we plan to invest nearly half a billion euros in the focused expansion of capacities and research and development over the next four to five years,” Sagel explained. “We also specifically check how we can boost our ability to provide mission-critical mobility solutions for our customers through strategic collaborations – both national and international.”
Key areas of focus for RENK include autonomous mobility, hybrid propulsion systems, and enhanced manoeuvrability. These priorities align with the evolving needs of NATO and its members’ armed forces.
Recent investments in local, scalable production capacity have enabled RENK to respond quickly to rising demand. “We were able to increase production capacity at our main plant in Augsburg by 50% with existing staff, through targeted investments and improvements in our operational excellence,” said Dr Emmerich Schiller, COO of RENK Group AG.
Schiller also noted that RENK’s long-term supply agreements are helping provide planning security for suppliers as they scale their output. “In short, we are ideally positioned to provide the capacities NATO requires,” he concluded.
