RENK opens new production facility in India, reinforcing defence and industrial partnerships

By Defence Industry Europe

RENK Group AG has officially inaugurated a new production facility in Shoolagiri, India, marking a significant step in its long-term commitment to the Indian market. The investment supports RENK’s strategy to strengthen its role as a trusted partner to the Indian Armed Forces and industrial sectors.

The facility will enhance local manufacturing capabilities, enabling quicker delivery, cost-effective solutions, and alignment with India’s localisation policies. It also supports RENK’s dual-focus strategy of “local-for-local” production for Indian customers and “local-for-global” output for international markets.

“This facility is more than just a production location – it is a statement of trust, partnership, and future ambition,” said Praveen Mohan, Managing Director of RENK Gears Private Ltd. (RENK India). “India represents a strategic cornerstone of our global operations, particularly in the defence sector.”

RENK India will supply gear units for cement mills, gearboxes for power and new energy sectors, and specialised couplings produced for both domestic and global applications. The new plant underscores RENK’s alignment with the “Make in India” initiative by increasing local value creation and technological capability.

As a long-term supplier to the Indian Armed Forces, RENK has supported major platforms such as the Arjun tank and INS Vikrant aircraft carrier. The company is also engaged in future defence programmes including a Light Tank project and naval developments.

This expansion deepens RENK’s presence in India while strengthening its global production network. RENK India is now positioned as a vital contributor to the company’s international operations and future growth.
