Rheinmetall acquires Stascheit GmbH to strengthen explosive ordnance disposal capabilities

By Defence Industry Europe

Düsseldorf-based defence technology group Rheinmetall has acquired Stascheit GmbH, a specialist in ammunition detection and recovery based in Gardelegen, Saxony-Anhalt. Following the acquisition, Stascheit will become a wholly-owned subsidiary of Rheinmetall Project Solutions GmbH.

The move aims to complement Rheinmetall Project Solutions GmbH’s comprehensive product portfolio in explosive ordnance disposal. Rheinmetall expects to generate annual revenues of approximately €80 million from this strategic purchase in the medium term.

The two companies have previously collaborated on multiple successful projects, including the detection of unexploded ordnance in the North Sea during maintenance operations on offshore wind farms. They also partnered in clearing munition-contaminated areas ahead of subsea cable installations in the Baltic Sea and Spain.

Stascheit GmbH, an owner-managed company, focuses on detecting, analysing, recovering, and disposing of explosive ordnances. Its services also include archaeological prospection, contaminated site investigations, and complex diving and recovery operations.

The acquisition significantly broadens Rheinmetall’s capabilities in the security sector. It also allows the company to offer integrated solutions in explosive ordnance disposal, tailored more closely to customer needs.

“With the acquisition of Stascheit GmbH, we are strengthening our position in the field of security-related solutions and expanding our portfolio with key capabilities,” said Dr Deniz Akitürk, Managing Director of Rheinmetall Project Solutions GmbH. “We look forward to working with Stascheit’s talented team and to provide mutual innovative solutions for our national and international customers.”

Rheinmetall Project Solutions GmbH will continue to build on its cooperation with Stascheit to further enhance efficiency and safety in ammunition disposal. The acquisition supports Rheinmetall’s broader goal of contributing to defence and security policy.
