According to Rheinmetall, the deal covers support for 42 Leopard 2A4 tanks and two Bergepanzer 3 Büffel vehicles, including spare parts supply, customer service, factory and assembly repairs, training, technical and logistical assistance, interim infrastructure, and project management. Rheinmetall stated that it “also intends to cooperate with Czech industry in fulfilling the contract and to award corresponding subcontracts.”
A letter of intent was signed the same day with the Czech state-owned VOP CZ s.p. to focus on repair and maintenance support, including the necessary transfer of know-how. This cooperation took place in the presence of representatives from the Czech Ministry of Defence.
Under separate contracts, the Czech Armed Forces are set to receive 42 Leopard 2A4 tanks and two Büffel recovery vehicles. Rheinmetall has refurbished and delivered these vehicles, acting partly on behalf of the German Federal Government and partly on behalf of the Czech Government.
