Rheinmetall subsidiary Rheinmetall Mobile Systeme has signed a contract with the Danish procurement authority for the delivery of five Role 2 field hospitals. The agreement, valued in the mid double-digit million euro range, was booked in the fourth quarter of 2025, with all systems scheduled for delivery within two years.

The order comprises three Role 2B Basic hospitals and two Role 2E Enhanced hospitals. The fully containerised Role 2B units operate as mobile systems mounted on trucks, enabling rapid deployment and swift operational readiness.

Each Role 2B package also includes a tent-based Forward Module that can either complement the Basic configuration or be used independently. The trauma system provides full diagnostic and surgical capabilities, allowing patients to be stabilised near battlefield areas before transfer to rearward units.

The Role 2E configuration offers double the operating theatre and intensive care capacity of the Basic version. It also includes additional capabilities such as a computed tomography scanner, laboratory and pharmacy containers, and a dental treatment unit.

All containers are field-proven and designed to withstand military environmental conditions and the demands of transport. In cooperation with the Danish customer, the medical equipment was selected to align as far as possible with systems already in use by the Danish Medical Service.

Both the Basic and Enhanced field hospitals are fully self-sufficient for a specified period during deployment and are delivered with integrated power, water and oxygen supplies. Military sanitary facilities complete the overall equipment package.

“We are delighted to have been awarded this contract by a major NATO partner. The collaboration with the Danish procurement agency and the end-users has been extremely professional, cooperative, and goal-oriented from the outset. Together, we have been able to develop high-performance, mission-oriented solutions for the Danish Medical Service,” said Armin Krenn, Managing Director of Rheinmetall Mobile Systeme.
