Rostec said it will unveil its new high-mobility multiple launch rocket system, Sarma, at World Defense Show 2026 in Riyadh. The system will be presented as part of a display organised by Rosoboronexport, a company within the Rostec group.

Mounted on an 8×8 all-wheel-drive chassis, the 300 mm-calibre Sarma is designed to engage a broad range of targets, including manpower, artillery, armoured vehicles, air defence systems and military infrastructure. Rostec said the system is intended to combine high mobility with effective firepower across multiple mission profiles.

“One of the distinguishing features of the new combat vehicle is its high mobility. It is capable of moving into the firing position within just three minutes and retreating within the same amount of time,” said Bekhan Ozdoyev. “The Sarma is equipped with an advanced automated guidance and fire control system. It can use both Smerch rockets, which have a proven track record, and state-of-the-art guided missiles for the Tornado-S. The MLRS can fire a complete salvo in just 18 seconds.”

The vehicle has a three-person crew and allows all preparation and firing operations to be carried out from inside an armoured cabin, which protects against shell fragments and armour-piercing incendiary bullets. Rostec said the system can also be operated remotely from a shelter.

Unlike the Tornado-S and Smerch systems of the same calibre, Sarma is fitted with six launch tubes instead of 12, a design choice intended to improve mobility while maintaining key combat performance. The system can reach road speeds of up to 95 kilometres per hour and has an operational range of 1,000 kilometres.

World Defense Show 2026 will take place in Riyadh from February 8 to 12 and is among the largest international defence and security exhibitions. Rostec said the event will serve as the international debut of the Sarma system.
