Saab and the Swedish Defence Materiel Administration (FMV) will now proceed with the next steps in the procurement process alongside the Kingdom of Thailand. At this stage, no contract has been signed, and no order has been placed.
Saab’s proposal includes not only the Gripen E/F fighter jets and related equipment but also a long-term offset package. This package is intended to strengthen Thailand’s national security and strategic independence while supporting job creation and investment across multiple sectors in the country.
“We welcome the Royal Thai Air Force’s selection of Gripen E/F as its future fighter and look forward to the next steps in this procurement process,” said Micael Johansson, President and CEO of Saab. “Gripen E/F is the best solution to provide Thailand with independent airpower for the future which will contribute significantly to the nation’s safety and security.”
Thailand has been operating the earlier Gripen C/D model since 2011. The transition to the E/F variant reflects a continued partnership between Thailand and Saab in the field of advanced military aviation.
